It's a Miracle!!

So... BEN POOPED in the POTTY!!! He actually did it. And this is how it went down.

Two Sundays ago my friend (Rita) who is from Malaysia, heard that Ben was still pooping in his pants and she ripped me up one side and down the other about how I need "Take Everything away". "Make him sit on his bed all day long until he poops in the potty if you have to". She has a thick accent and she said a lot more than that, and she just cracks me up. But I listened to her and the next Day on Monday I told Ben that he couldn't watch any TV or Movies, we aren't going to see any friends, and we aren't going to do anything fun until he poops in the potty. This went on for a whole week and I was starting to get depressed because we had been inside constantly (which I can't stand) and by the next Tuesday... I gave up. I let him watch TV in the morning and we went to see a friend, and on the way home from the friends house he saw McDonald's and asked if we could go there. I told him if he pooped in the potty today then we would go there for dinner.

Anyways... That afternoon I kept his pants off and when I saw him running into a room to hide, I made him sit on the potty (this is what I had been doing all the last week), but for some reason it worked that time. He pooped in the potty!! Hallelujah! We went to McDonalds that night for dinner and then we went to the beach to celebrate and he pooped in the potty again today. I can't tell you how happy I am. I think it took him realizing that he broke me because I finally gave up on my ultimatums. Actually I think he's been scared to go... but... anyways. This might not be exciting for those of you reading this... but for me, this is AWESOME!

Oh geez, silly Ben! Glad he broke you, or you broke him. Whichever way it was, haha.

Oh, I'm glad you posted about this!
Okay, first of all, how old is your son and did he cry or make a big fuss when you wouldn't sit on the potty? My son won't sit on the potty anymore and I know it's a little early anyway, but when should I really make it a big deal, ya know? When!? and How!? Now that you have been through this, have you learned anything from this...that I could glean from?

Congrats! I hope he keeps it up! You're a good mommy...it takes a lot of perseverance sometimes doesn't it? Those little ones know how to work it out of us too! : )

Hooray poop! Tiff was just flipping through the channels and saw Dr Phil talking to a mom about potty training her child. She was about to call you, but I guess it's no longer needed.

When Megan started pooping on the potty, I immediately calculated the cost savings from diapers. Hallelujah.

Yea Kathryn! It's so funny how all kids are so different about this kind of thing. But I'm sooooo happy for you and hope he keeps it up! Now you can give Rita a thumbs up when you see her. :)

Yippee! This is so exciting! I think getting the first poop out in the potty is the hardest part. It is all down hill from here. Logan has gone pee pee in the potty, but he won't poop. I don't know if he is scared or just being stubborn. I will have to give Rita's method a try. :-)

McDonald's was also the ultimate prize for Truman and Brigham when they did the same. Sa-weet!

congratulations! what a relief for you all, I'm sure! and way to go--Naomi was relatively easy, so I sure have a lot of respect for mommas that can get through the potty training with those tougher kids. Anyway, I hope Ben keeps it up! Yay for Ben!
