Right after the second session of Conference today I got a call from my friend (Lauren Simons... love her) asking if we wanted to meet up with them to go crabbing. Sure!! I've never been crabbing before and the only thing I could think of was "Deadliest Catch" with the huge boats and the big nets hanging off the sides. I knew we weren't going in a boat and we were meeting up at this old run down bridge that the city has turned into a park, and plus... we didn't have much time until dark... so really I had no clue what we were going to be doing... but I was excited.
Anyways... it's hilarious. You pretty much wade out in the pluff mud in the marsh, hook up a piece of scrap chicken on a random hook on a string, and throw it out in the water. You can feel the crabs pulling on it right away and you slowly drag it in til you can catch it with the net. I didn't actually manage to catch one myself (I waded out there and tried though)... but her husband and her girls did! Anyways... here are some pictures of the crabbing and then of the gorgeous sunset we saw while we were out there.
Ben... Checking out the crabs... "don't stick your finger in there!"
