Crabbing!!!

Right after the second session of Conference today I got a call from my friend (Lauren Simons... love her) asking if we wanted to meet up with them to go crabbing. Sure!! I've never been crabbing before and the only thing I could think of was "Deadliest Catch" with the huge boats and the big nets hanging off the sides. I knew we weren't going in a boat and we were meeting up at this old run down bridge that the city has turned into a park, and plus... we didn't have much time until dark... so really I had no clue what we were going to be doing... but I was excited.

Anyways... it's hilarious. You pretty much wade out in the pluff mud in the marsh, hook up a piece of scrap chicken on a random hook on a string, and throw it out in the water. You can feel the crabs pulling on it right away and you slowly drag it in til you can catch it with the net. I didn't actually manage to catch one myself (I waded out there and tried though)... but her husband and her girls did! Anyways... here are some pictures of the crabbing and then of the gorgeous sunset we saw while we were out there.
Look at that thing! It is MAD!
This was when they threw it in the bucket and all the crabs were fighting and clawing at each other.
I wish that picture would turn the right way! Here's Chloe and Chase. I love Chloe. She's in my primary class and is so much fun.
CRABS!!
Chris (Lauren's Husband) and the pretty marsh.
Ben... Checking out the crabs... "don't stick your finger in there!"

view of Downtown Charleston from where we were at with the gorgeous sunset.

I love this picture
This is the same place where we were crabbing... but I was out there with Chase a few mornings ago after I dropped off Ben at preschool. I just got a jogging stroller off of Craigslist with my birthday money (thanks Parents) and this is right by where Ben goes to preschool... so I drop him off and jog with Chase. It was raining when I took these pictures.
