Now that we are moving, we are trying to check off some of the last things on our "to do" list for the Northwest area. One thing that we've been wanting to do ever since we moved here is to spend some time on the Oregon coast. So... it was time! A couple weekends ago we looked at a bunch of different places online and picked out "The Sea Sprite" in Cannon Beach, Oregon. All we wanted was a place that was right on the water... and we got what we wanted. It was just a little one room studio which was small... but perfect.
Anyways... this was just awesome. It was one of the most beautiful... if not the most beautiful place I've ever been. It would have been amazingly relaxing if Boyd and I were there alone, but it was more fun with Ben and Chase. We all loved it. Ben especially was upset to leave, and when we got home today after the long drive home he was crying and wanted to go back to the beach. We've been telling him that we are going to move soon and I think that he thought that was our new home. Woops... I think he was a little traumatized.
We spent most of our time at the beach and wading in the water around "the Haystack". We also checked out all the cute shops in the town of Cannon Beach. It was cute and reminded me of Jackson Hole, or Eureka Springs Arkansas. But then we went to "Ecola State Park". WOW! This place was gorgeous. It's up on this cliff that looks out over the coastline, and then there was a beach that we drove down to with a lot of surfers. I know... surfers in Oregon? Are you Joking me? Maybe in Hawaii... but you must really love surfing if you're willing to get n that freezing water.
We were at Cannon Beach Friday and Saturday night and then this morning (Sunday), we drove from there, to Portland, and on to Multnomah Falls. I'm starting to realize that Seattle is the best city in the northwest. Portland and Vancouver, BC seem alright, but Seattle is awesome. It's way more beautiful and there seems to be way more to do and see in Seattle (just a little side note). But Multnomah falls was awesome and I'm glad we drove out of our way to see it. And then we headed home :).
So yeah... we had a great time. I've been praying that we would have great weather ever since we made the reservation and my prayers were answered :). I love it when Heavenly Father answers even your small prayers. And here are the pictures... a lot of them.

Wow! I loved those pitures! That really made me miss the northeast. I wish I could go back to the beach too!
What a fun weekend! I loved all the pics! I went to the Oregon Coast on a road trip with some guy friends the summer before I met Dean. It is absolutely beautiful, especially coming from yucky Eastern Idaho! I think we went to some of the same places, Haystack Rock and Ecola Park, but we were staying in Seaside. I just couldn't get over how GREEN everything was! Your room was so cute too. What a fun trip!!!
very pretty. looks like it was a great weekend
Those pictures were freaking awesome. We should have invited ourselves to tag along.
What a PERFECT way to spend Mother's day! BEAUTIFUL! Your boys are so handsome, what a darling family you guys are!
I want to come play! That looks like so much fun! You have such a cute family. Those pictures remind me of when Mark and I went to some of those places a long time ago...pre 5 kids. :)
