There had been talk at church yesterday about canceling seminary because of potential bad weather... which made me laugh.... and I didn't think much of it after that. Then this morning I got up with Ben and Chase and got Ben all ready for school. It was raining and grey sky... but the thought of checking to see if school was canceled didn't even cross my mind. On the way to school there was a Police car blocking the Highway entrance to go on the bridge... I thought there must have been an accident or something. Then I get all the way to Ben's school and no one is there. What?! Was school canceled today?! For the Rain?!!
I then actually turned on the Radio and watched TV once we got home to figure out what the big deal was about. I guess the South is getting hit with some snow and freezing rain... but really? I didn't see any snow. I'm looking at our leaves right now and I do see a little ice on them. So okay... maybe the bridges are a little icy.
But after living in Idaho... this is just hilarious. In Idaho it could snow two feet and they don't even think about canceling school. The only time that school is canceled in Idaho is if the temperature gets down to -20 degrees and the buses won't start because it's too cold. Here are a couple pictures of Idaho snow and school=still on.

that is funny. i guess if people drive in charleston like they do in seattle if they spot a flake of snow it probably is safer to cancel school!
hahaha yes I can relate to this all too well. It is funny the hype in Kansas City over 3-6 inches of snow. All the schools are canceled it seems and I know a few people at least who didn't have to go to work because of the snow day. Of course though, ryan still had class... I wish the hype was evenly distributed. ;) In Alaska this would have been nothing. But no surprise there.
School was cancelled today in Idaho--because the power went out! Even though there is no wind, even though we didn't get any new snow, and even though it's a balmy 15 degrees outside, they cancelled because the power was out all night and schools are cold. We had the same experience--Allen drove Truman to school and then brought him right home. Ugh.
oh Rexburg...land of eternal winter! I can't say I miss all that snow : )
isn't perspective hilarious? The same is here in Texas, the city shuts down if there is ICE. And the children can't go play outside if it is below 40 degrees. In Idaho the kids wouldn't be able to play for 8 months if that were the rule. :)
Love the picture of your boys on the beach.
That is so funny. It looks like Rexburg.
That is pretty hilarious. Yeah, I don't know if I ever had a snow day in high school, even when it did take 1/2 hour to get 1 mile because of the terrible roads.
